Clark Atlanta University
Program, coordinated by Morehouse School of Medicine, works with Atlanta Public Schools to improve teaching and learning of science in grades 1 to 5.
Undergraduate science majors act as volunteer “science partners” with APS teachers to plan and prepare lessons, and then spend three to four hours per week team-teaching those exercises in class. Provided professional development to over 1,500 teachers regarding the use of kit-based science curricula and methodologies (APS now has more than 2,000 kits that focus on life science, earth science, or physical science).

Sigma Gamma Tau Paper Airplane Contest

Students enter the contest and form teams to create winning airplane designs. Contest can be applied at all grade levels, from a creative thinking exercise for younger grades to a lesson in physics for high school students.
